FRAMEWORK
Reclaimed windows by Eddie Hall * September 11 to October 11
Opening Reception September 19 2-5pm; artist talk 3:30 * RSVP HERE
Framework brings together nearly twenty works created by Eddie Hall using reclaimed house windows as both a canvas and a subject. Hall constructs systems of color, pattern, and perception on the reverse side of the glass, combining the precision of hard-edge painting with architectural abstraction, optical effects, and decorative pattern.
Working in reverse, Hall applies the foremost elements first and gradually builds each composition toward its background. Matte acrylic surfaces, transparent passages, reflective metal leaf, and exposed glass interact with the wall and surrounding light. The original frames, panes, hardware, and imperfections of the reclaimed windows remain visible, allowing the history and physical structure of each object to shape the finished work.
The exhibition encompasses several areas of Hall’s practice, in some using windows as a framework for architectural forms and imagined structures, in others exploring depth, movement, and shifting perception through optical arrangements, and also drawing upon repetition and interlocking geometric systems. Together, these approaches transform discarded windows into contemporary abstractions that move between painting, object, and architecture.
