Gallery 66 New Britain

The first solo show of local artist Eddie Hall, featuring works created by the artist over the last two years. These works are uniquely created using recycled windows and exhibit vibrant colors and geometric patterns. Eddie Hall is an artist working in Berlin, Connecticut. His geometric abstract works draw inspiration from architectural and design themes. His works have been featured in shows throughout New England, including at the Connecticut Academy of Fine Arts, Greenwich Arts Society, Kehler Liddell Gallery, New Haven Paint and Clay Club, Stamford Art Association, and West Hartford Art League. He is self-taught as an artist, works full time as an attorney, and has two amazing children.

From the artist:

If you start looking, you would be surprised how many windows you find discarded by the side of the road. I keep finding myself coming back again and again to the visuals I can achieve with acrylic paints on the reverse side of recycled windows. Using this medium, I find that I can more readily present bold colors and geometric patterns and also find enjoyment in the challenge of working the unique character of each window into the piece itself.

I have fallen in love with the specific process I have found to create these works. Detailed work taping lines, razoring crisp edges, layering paints in reverse, color selection, achieving and planning depth effects using multiple panes or storm windows, and even the process of meticulously scraping away mistakes while trying to retain working elements. The sum effect of each of these processes is a bold visual composition. These works have allowed me to take something discarded and transform it into an item of beauty.
